COUNTY INFORMATION

Pemiscot County was officially organized on February 19, 1851. The County Seat is located in Caruthersville, Missouri and is divided up into the following political townships: Bragg City, Braggadocio, Caruthersville, Cooter, Cottonwood Point, Deering, Gobler, Hayti, Hayti Heights, Holland, Homestown, Pascola, Steele and Wardell.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Record and maintain Real Estate documents
  • Issue and maintain Marriage Licenses
  • File and maintain State and Federal Tax Liens
  • File and maintain Military Discharge documents

POLICIES

  • It is office policy not to accept blanket documents.
  • No pictures or scanning of documents by phone or any other means will be allowed, unless the page cannot be copied from book.
  • With all recordings, enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope.
  • Effective July 1, 2001, all Uniform Commercial Code filings are done through the Secretary of State.
  • Tax Liens: Recorder’s Office does not do searches.
  • Birth and Death records: Birth and death records are kept by the State of Missouri, not on the county level. Visit the Missouri Secretary of State for birth and death records.
  • Documents received after 4:00 p.m. will be recorded on the next business day.

If you’re requesting a deed prior to January 2004, please contact the Pemiscot County Assessor’s Office at 573-333-1390 to obtain a Book and Page number for the Recorder’s office to be able to pull from the vault.
